Collection contains Kaler family papers and items collected by Elizabeth Kaler relating to the gold rush town of Murphys,
Calif. In addition to the Kalers, other families include those of Nathaniel Hoyt, James L. Sperry, and Eliza and John Perry.
Includes Kaler family correspondence, especially letters to Thomas from family in Maine and elsewhere, miscellaneous correspondence,
and diaries of Thomas Kaler and others. With these are financial and legal documents, including account books and deeds, and
school workbooks and assignments of Flora Kaler and others, along with Elizabeth Kaler's research notes on Murphys. One document
is an agreement between Eliza Perry (later Hoyt), widow of John Perry, and James L. Sperry relating to their firm of Sperry
and Perry. Many items are annotated by Elizabeth Kaler or Florence Alexander to identify the people involved and their relevance.

school in Sheepranch and elsewhere in Calaveras Co. She is the author of "Untold tales of Murphys," "Memories of Murphys,"
and contributor to "Mother Lode magazine."
