Note:

The Kong Chow Benevolent Association, founded July 19, 1854, was the first Chinese benevolent society formed in America. A district group, the association was composed of immigrants or their children from the Sun-Wui and Hok-Shan districts of Kwangtung province in southern China, home of the first Chinese immigrants to America. Their original temple, built in 1857 at 520 Pine Street, was dynamited to stop the progress of the 1906 fire, and was rebuilt in 1909, and in the 1960s, replaced with a new building at Clay and Stockton Streets. Kong Chow Benevolent Association is part of the Chinese Six Companies.
Fook Hing Tong is a district charity group for the Xinhui people, and is under the jurisdiction of the Kong Chow Benevolent Association.
