Snapshot photograph albums documenting the activities of Irene Clement and various friends and fellow nurses during Irene's years in nursing school and her early career as a nurse. While various aspects of nursing school and the nursing profession are depicted, the emphasis of the albums pertains to local travel, dating and other aspects of the young nurses' leisurely pursuits. Volume 1 contains snapshots taken while Irene attended Orange County General Hospital School of Nursing (1942-1945), depicting her and her fellow students socializing, posing on campus and touring Southern California. Volume 2, dedicated to Irene's close friend Lieutenant Daisy Chung -- a Chinese-American Army Air Corps nurse who died in a plane crash in 1944 -- contains photographs and other mementos of their friendship, including several letters in addition to holiday cards, pins and newspaper clippings. Volume 3 pertains to Irene's work for the Navy Nurse Corps at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Long Beach in 1947. Identified locations depicted on Irene's travels include San Diego, Griffith Observatory, Laguna Beach, and Tijuana, Mexico.
