One photographic view of Hudson's Bay Company's Fort Vancouver and 8 vintage photographic prints of drawings. The photograph
(United States Photograph No.3) depicts the interior of the Hudson's Bay Company post at Fort Vancouver, probably in May,
1860. Drawings depict: Fort Hall, Fort Boise, Fort Walla Walla (i.e. Fort Nez Percés), Fort Okanagan [sic], and the Hudson's
Bay Co. mill near Fort Colville. Several views include Indians.

Views are presumably copy photographs made by Alexander Gardner or his assistants (ca. 1860-1867) for the British and American
Joint Commission for the Final Settlement of the Claims of the Hudson's Bay and Puget Sound Agricultural Companies. Most mounted
on verso of card stock bearing the name of A. Gardner, photographer. Photographic view of Fort Vancouver is mounted on recto
of a Gardner mount.
Images 6-9 are reproduced as lithographs in: Reports of explorations and surveys, to ascertain the most practicabale and economical
route for a railroad...made...in 1853-55....v. XII, book 1 (1860)
Each mount bears a ms. caption and the ms. heading "United States Photographs", followed by a number.
