Irma Glicman Adelman was born in Romania in 1930. She received a B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of California,
Berkeley. She was a professor of agricultural and resource economics at U.C. Berkeley from 1979 to 1994. She has served as
a consultant for the United Nations, the Agency for International Development, the World Bank, the International Labor Organization,
the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. She is
currently a professor of the graduate school at U.C. Berkeley.
