Journals containing diary entries for March l2-21, l849, copied from the original diary, with a preface summarizing preparations for the journey, a printed copy of by-laws for the California Mutual Benefit Association, and a sketch of the ship Salem; a history of the Halsey family (p.78), records for a mining company in Volcano, l855-57, with notes on weather, etc., (p.197-222) and a record of letters received and written, 1857-1858.
