Abstract:

Contains correspondence, clippings, and miscellany, mostly concerning George Trippon's career as a fashion designer and host of the television show, "Sew What's New." Also includes three front page facsimile reprints of extra editions of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and the Honolulu Advertiser, originally published on December 7 and 8, 1942, about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and one special edition insert from the Los Angeles Times (December 3, 1991) on the same topic.

George W. Trippon (1916-2010) was born in Illinois and studied fashion design in Paris under the G.I. Bill after a tour in the Army during WWII. He owned and operated the Trippon Fashion Center, School of Dress Design in Hollywood, California during the 1950's and hosted the television program, "Sew What's New" on the Learning Channel for 10 years during the 1980-90's. He and his life partner, James W. Price, who died in 2006, lived together for 64 years.
