Abstract:
Printed order stating the terms of a convention on the part of General E. K. Smith, commander of the Trans-Mississippi Department,
and Major-General E. R. S. Canby, commander of the Military Division of West Mississippi, to surrender their forces and public
property under their control to the authorities of the United States. Major-General E. R. S. Canby accepted the surrender
of the Confederate forces west of the Mississippi River under the command of General E. K. Smith. The order is by Major-General
E. R. S. Canby, signed by Lt. Colonel, Assistant Adjutant General C. T. Christensen.
