Abstract:
Five handwritten letters (14 p.) by two different authors (possibly husband and wife) to friends and relatives addressed from
various locations. Places include: South Bend [Wash.?], Walla Walla, Wash., Jacksonville, Or., and Yreka, Calif. Letters include
details of departure and arrival dates for an overland trip through the Indian territories to Oregon via Council Bluffs and
the "Great Cascade" mountains. Other details include: the cost of lumber, nails, and food in Oregon, concerns for children,
condolences, prices of land, and comments about people's behavior during the "gold excitement." One letter is addressed to
"Friend Peter" and signed "your brother D.S. Kenyon." Another letter is signed "your sister C.E. Kenyon."
