Abstract:
Includes portraits of Simeon Stivers, his wife Anna Maria Jones Stivers, and a group portrait of multiple generations of Stivers
family members. Also includes portraits of descendants and other relatives of both Simeon and Anna Stivers, and other individuals
and groups, some of whom are identified, including Catherine Ann Jones Markham, Warren Markham, Simeon Earl Stivers, Ida Stivers,
Mark Stivers, Elley Markham, William Thorn, George Uhl, Elizabeth "Lizzy" Whitlock, Manuel Silva, Dave Mitchell, O. Wilson,
Sarah Jones Mills, the Don Robinson family, the Sam Robinson family, the Mrs. James E. Brown family, Henry Osmond, Jr., Annie
M. Osmond, Evelina D. Osmond, Herman Drucker, Oliver Cowdery, David Whitmer, Martin Harris, James W. Gillen and a man identified
as possibly LDS Church patriarch Alexander Hale Smith. Many of those depicted, like the Stivers, were Mormons, a few being
prominent figures in the church. Also includes a group portrait of Mormon missionaries Joseph Burton and Emma Burton in Tahiti,
posing with a large number of Tahitians, and another group portrait (shelved in AX folder) possibly also depicting Mormons
in Tahiti. Also includes a copy photograph of an 1850 manuscript map depicting Alameda County ranch property of Simeon Stivers
and Earl E. Marshall; a copy photograph portrait of Marshall; and a photograph album (:41--ALB) containing carte de visite
and tintype portraits pertaining to Job Hall, a nephew of Anna Stivers. Other subjects include harvesters, harvesting scenes
and a wagon on the Stivers ranch, and a snapshot view of Hydesville Creamery in Humboldt County taken in 1899. Also includes
a folder containing a diagram of descendants of Simeon and Anna Stivers.

Simeon Stivers was an early Mormon pioneer to California. He emigrated to California in 1846 aboard the ship Brooklyn. Together
with his uncle, Earl E. Marshall, he owned a ranch covering approximately 600 acres in what is now Fremont, California.
