Abstract:
Mounted, possible original watercolor, by unknown artist [initials G.E.P.], dated 1869, depicting the Oct. 21, 1861 battle
near Leesburg, VA. No evidence this was a Currier & Ives, most of their Civil War lithographs being produced during the war,
but they did have a stable of artists who produced original watercolors, used to print black/white lithographs, which then
were handcolored. [Oversize boxed].
