Note:
Mining engineer and businessman, Sutro came to California in 1851. He worked as both merchant and engineer, making a fortune
constructing the Sutro Tunnel in the Comstock Lode. He then became one of the most powerful landowners in San Francisco and
served as mayor of city from 1894 to 1896.
