Abstract:
This is an album of a soldier in the U.S. Army, Arthur Williams, who was stationed in Peking (Beijing) as part of the foreign
military forces during the Boxer Rebellion. The photographs date from ca. 1905. Williams took many photos of noted sights,
including the Forbidden City. Most have penned captions. Each photo appears to have been hand-colored, something travelers
ordered from photo developers in China during that period.
