Abstract:
Holograph letter written and signed by C. C. Washburn from Washington, D. C. to Will to acknowledge Will's favor of the 4th
and to promise support for him over two other members of the 34th Congress, namely, Jim Thorington and John Allison. The letter
states that if he doesn't support Will, it will not be because he doesn't like him.

Cadwallader Colden Washburn was an American businessman, solider, and politician who ran for Congress as a Republican in 1854
and served three terms as part of the 34th, 35th, and 36th United States Congresses, representing Wisconsin's 2nd Congressional
District from March 4, 1855 to March 3, 1861. During the American Civil War, he served in the Union Army as Colonel of the
2nd Wisconsin Volunteer Cavalry on February 6, 1862, Brigadier General of Volunteers on July 16, 1862, and Major General on
November 29, 1862.
