Abstract:
One holograph letter written and signed by George E. Metcalf to his father Dr. A. B. Metcalf about his experience in the Mexican
War, including General Twiggs ordering his soldiers not to charge a 3rd fort after taking the 1st and 2nd forts. He mentions
fellow soldiers being killed and injured, not having enough to eat, and not having enough time to write in detail.
