The Tebbetts were newspaper people, with close links to Thomas A. Storke (Santa Barbara News-Press). Despite the title of the collection, much of the material relates to Nathan Tebbetts' life. Nat grew up in Santa Barbara, but worked with the San Franciso Examiner for many years, mostly resort advertising. His father, George P. Tebbetts, founded the SB Daily and Weekly Independent, and the collection includes financial records of the paper in the 1880s and 1890s.
