Abstract:
The album (196 p.), compiled by Gerald V. Browns while stationed in the American barracks at Tientsin, China during the years
of 1928 to 1931, contains 755 black and white photographs and 23 hand-colored photographs, with hand-drawn captions and illustrations.
The majority of photographs are of Tientsin and surrounding areas with various themes: the military, international troops,
railyards, villagers, merchants, country scenes, wedding and funeral processions, including Sun Yat-sen, and makers of Chinese
history, including Chang Tso-lin. Also includes Peking historical landmarks and temples.
