Photocopy of typed transcript of tape recorded interview with former California Governor Edmund G. (Pat) Brown. Brown discusses his family and youth; early friendships and marriage; law school, legal practice, and first political steps; adventures as a young attorney; work as San Francisco District Attorney and state and national politics; election as Attorney General and Democratic party politics; the 1956 presidential campaign; the 1958 election and first years as Governor; organization and operation of the Governor's office; first term concerns; the California State Water Project, 1950-1966; the 1960 Kennedy presidential campaign; state water bonds; 1962 run for re-election against Richard Nixon; party leadership and legislative concerns; 1966 campaigns and issues; and activities after 1966. Includes introduction by Eugene C. Lee.
Includes clippings, photographs, and documents relating to Brown's career, including press kit for Brown's 1958 campaign for Governor, biographical information, photographs of Brown's visit to Mexico and South America, and other working files used by interviewers.
