Abstract:
Album of copy prints compiled by W.W. Richards for the 27th anniversary meeting of the Sempervirens Club in 1927. Images depict
scenes in the redwoods of the Big Basin area, which the club was dedicated to preserving; logging activities; and the 1901
visit to Big Basin of Gov. Henry Tifft Gage and members of the State Park Commisioner's Advisory Board. Photographs also include
views of outings and camping.

Andrew Putnam Hill, born in Indiana, was a photographer and painter resident in San Jose, Calif. An early conservation movement
leader, he founded the Sempervirens Club in 1900; reactivated in 1968 as the Sempervirens Fund.
