Abstract:
The collection consists of a copy of Nahum Seitzick's memoir "Nahum's Story," which describes Seitzick's experiences in Russia;
his emigration from that country and his settlement in the United States; his subsequent marriage; and the experiences of
his children. The collection also contains a 1950 charter for the Berkeley, California chapter of the National Council of
Jewish Women, as well as Beatrice Seitzick Schiffman's photo album for the same chapter, containing photos and newspaper clippings
that document the activities of the chapter and its members.

Nahum Seitzick (1879-1972) was born in Josefdorf, Russia. He helped establish a few synagogues in the East Bay of California,
and he played a role in creating Berkeley's congregation Beth-El. He was the first president of that congregation's senior
citizens group and was named an honorary trustee of the whole congregation. Seitzick's daughter, Beatrice Seitzick Schiffman
(1913-2003), was a president of the Berkeley chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) in the 1950s.
