Abstract:

Contains typescript copies of 5 sets of documents found in the Archivo del Estado, Hermosillo, concerning the encroachment of Americans into the Sonora area before 1828; beaver hunting rights along the Gila and Colorado rivers; defense of Guaymas against possible American invasion in 1847; and foreign expeditions in Sonora in 1853. Persons involved include Philip Nolan, Manuel Muñoz, Governor of Texas, Commandant General Pedro de Nava, Ignacio Pacheco, Antonio Campuzano, and Manuel María Gándara.
