Abstract:
The Selma Rochdale Company records constitute a sample record representing a consumers' cooperative movement which spread
over California between about 1900 and 1910, during which time there were more than 100 of the Rochdale types of cooperative
stores organized in the state. These 25 volumes represent a fairly complete picture of the nature of the business, of the
operating problems, and the financial tranactions, during the Rochdale Company's entire operating period, from 1907-1917.
The volumes include financial records, such as cash and account books, records of daily sales and expenses, ledgers, daybooks;
minutes of the company and board of directors' meetings, by-laws, the secretary's record book and membership certificates.
