Abstract:
Letters received in the adjudant General's Office relate mainly to military expeditions to the West, to exploratory tours
in Indian territory and include letters, reports and copies of orders by R. Holmes, Benjamin Riley, H. Dodge and A.C. Maccomb.
Records from the U.S. Army Commands, Dept. of the Northwest include copies of letters sent by H.H. Sibley, his journal recording
a march of expeditionary forces from Camp Pope to Fort Snelling, and copies of letters sent from headquarters by John Pope
and W.C. Elliott, 1862-1864, relating in part to Sibley's expedition vs. Little Crow.
