Abstract:
Mostly pages from two scrapbooks of Sidney S. and Eustace M. Peixotto documenting their work with the Columbia Park Boys'
Club and Public Schools Athletic League of San Francisco. The scrapbooks also include theatrical programs from San Francisco.
In addition, the collection includes a small amount of loose material on the Columbia Park Boys' Club, an In Memoriam book
for Sidney Peixotto, assorted programs and ephemera, health education ephemera, and obituary clippings for Edgar D. Peixotto
and Jessica B. Peixotto.

Sidney S. Peixotto founded the Columbia Park Boys' Club in San Francisco in 1895. A nationally known advocate of boys' welfare
in the first quarter of the twentieth century, Peixotto was also a member of the first San Francisco Playground Commission
from 1907 to 1909, president of the Pacific Athletic Association, and founder of the Public Schools Athletic League. His brothers
were artist and writer Ernest C. Peixotto, Eustace M. Peixotto (who was also active in the Columbia Park Boys' Club), and
Edgar D. Peixotto. His sister, Jessica Peixotto, was a social work pioneer and professor of Economics at the University of
California, Berkeley.
