Carbon copies of 47 letters written from Honolulu, 1847-1848; and from San Francisco, New York, and Boston, 1849, before the
organization, and during the existence, of S.H. Williams & Company. The majority of the letters are written to Williams' principal,
W.H. Bordman of Boston. Others describe extension of the firm's business to San Francisco in 1849, and a journey to New England
via Panama the same year; Williams was named executor of the will of Tahiti merchant, George Gould, who died en route.
