Restore Hetch Hetchy had its beginnings as the Sierra Club Hetch Hetchy Restoration Task Force in the summer of 1997. The
organization's mission is the restoration of the Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite National Park. The valley was flooded in
1923 to create the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir in order to provide water to San Francisco and other Bay Area cities.
