Abstract:
Contains deeds, abstracts, indentures, agreements, U.S. land grants, records of taxes, and other transactions concerning property
in Mendocino and Sonoma counties, along with related surveys, field notes, maps, and sketches. Records chiefly concern the
acquisition of land by the Gualala Mill Company from various local families. Includes certificates of grants for school lands,
1868-1875. Some records relate to Empire Redwood Co. and Gualala River Railway Company. Also includes agreements to clear
logged land and transport lumber, particularly with Bender Brothers (W.A. & George L.), San Francisco commission merchants
for railroad ties and telephone poles.
