Abstract:

Wilderness and mountaineering outings, primarily in the Sierra Nevada mountains, some of which are identified as Sierra Club outings. Family portraits and snapshots (most unidentified) also present.
Album of 8th Sierra Club outing, to Kern River Canyon; ca. 150 unidentified outing photos; ca. 98 mountain photos, some by Asahel Curtis, some dated 1905; 1 album of San Francisco earthquake and fire photos; some Alaska and Yosemite views; unidentified album (Huntington Lake and Evolution Basin captioned); 2 albums of 1906 and 1910 outings; miscellaneous loose photographs.
Primairily Sierra Nevada outing photos, (ca. 1900), including an album with many panoramic photos of a snowshoeing trip in Yosesemite. Also, some views of a Mazamas mountaineering outing of 1896 (Mt. Rainier?), 1 of which shows photographer's tent of Gifford and Hale (Portland, Or.), 1 view of the Portland flood of 1890, and 9 views (on 1 cabinet card) of and "Indian burying ground" near the Dalles, Or., photographed by D.C. Herrin. Hawaiian and European snapshots also present.
