Title:

Petition on the disputed ownership of an Asian slave, 1630-1635

Abstract:

A complex legal petition involving the disputed ownership of a slave named Domingo of Asian origin: "un esclavo mis de nacion chino llama Domingo." If we follow the case correctly, Domingo's owner was deep in debt, and falsified the sale of his slave to avoid losing him to creditors, but then ended up in a dispute with the buyer. Numerous depositions and reports are bound together.
