Ira G. Hoitt was a California State Superintendent of Public Instruction in the 1880s. His wife, Julia B. Hoitt, was Deputy
Superintendent of Public Instruction at the same time. They were co-founders of the Hoitt's Schools in Burlingame (founded
1898) and in Menlo Park (founded 1899?).
