Abstract:
Correspondence of a man traveling to the California Gold Rush, working as a gold miner, and his eventual return home to Coventry,
New York (Chenango County). Details include the difficult conditions onboard the Brig Lalla on the way to San Francisco, results
of his mining efforts in Stockton and Sonora, Calif., a bout with rheumatism, and comments on life in California. Includes
a letter to his brother Nathan Bristol, also in New York. Also includes typescripts of excerpts from the letters and genealogy
information on the Bristol family from the County of Chenango Office of History (Chenango County Museum).
