Owens and Moore Company cashbook
Cash, 1876, O.M. & Co
Creator/Contributor:Owens & Moore Company, creator
Creator/Contributor:Bascomb, David, 1912-1985
Bound account book mostly containing daily entries for cash transactions of a grocery business for each month from January
1876 to Novermber, 1878. Also contains a few pages, made in another hand at a later date, circa 1909-1910, that appear to
be daily entries for photographic supply orders and sales. Two pages of the later entries are titled, "Chinese Circuit Court"
and "U.S. Post Office." and list photographs taken of several unnamed Chinese men, girls, and children, and the cost for each.
Several pages have been torn out at the back and are missing. Also includes a business card, circa 1955, of David Bascomb,
the chairman of the board of an advertising firm, with a typed note on the back of it addressed to "Sam" indicating Bascomb
is making a gift of the ledger to him. Possibly writing humorously, Bascomb apologizes for the few remaining blank pages adding,
"This [account book] should give your business an outward appearance of stability. Merry Christmas" and signed, "Dave."
