Our trip of 1956

Parks, Larry, creator, creator.

Snapshot photograph album documenting a cross-country road trip taken in the summer of 1956 by a California family who flew from Los Angeles to Detroit, then travelled by car to New England before driving westward. Well-documented highlights include the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan, and Yellowstone National Park. Other points of interest include rural upstate New York; New London and Niantic, Connecticut; New York City; scenery along the Pennsylvania Turnpike; Corn Palace, Mitchell, South Dakota; Missouri River; Badlands; Dinosaur Park; Mount Rushmore; Needles Highway; Cody and Buffalo Bill Dam, Wyoming; Grand Tetons; and Salt Lake City. The compiler, a young man probably of high-school age, is depicted in a few images. Also depicted throughout the album are the compiler's family, extended family members and family friends. Printed imagery of Yellowstone Park on front cover depicts two bears eating from a tree stump, and Old Faithful geyser.
