Photographs show Alaska, Angel Island, Chinese in the San Francisco Bay Area, Yellowstone, California views, Oregon, and places
outside the United States. Views of Alaska (ca. 1900?) show Sitka, Juneau, the Treadwell Mine on Douglas Island, Muir Glacier,
landscapes, many totem poles, and various houses. Angel Island views relate to North's career as commander of the immigration
station and show interior and exterior views of the station: dormitories, dining room, wash room, hospital, and Chinese cooks.
Photos relating to Chinese in the Bay Area include many studio portraits by Chinese photographers of Chinese. Many of these
bear inscriptions to H.H. North (often from Chinese consular officials), and show subjects in traditional dress. Views of
Yellowstone and the west include scenery and cliff dwellings in Arizona. Miscellaneous California views show Indians in San
Diego Co., views of the 1906 earthquake and fire in San Francisco and at Stanford University, Cloyne Court in Berkeley (1
view), etc. Many show the Shasta Iron Co. mine, quarry, and surroundings. Oregon photos show the "P" Ranch in French Glen.
Views from outside the U.S. include China (including architectural details), Holland, England, Italy, etc.
