Norman Alan Hyams (died August 18, 2015) received his A.B. in History from the University of Arizona in 1938 and was a graduate
student at the University of California, Berkeley. His masters thesis, Richard Henry Dana in California : an analysis of
his Two Years Before the Mast as a contribution to California history, was published by the University in 1950.
