The merchant Michel Weill, who was a nephew of Raphael Weill, was born in Paris and relocated to San Francisco (1904). With
time, he became a president of Raphael Weill and Company in San Francisco, which was known as the White House department store.
He also was a president, vice-president or board member of the French Hospital; the Alliance Francaise; the CIty Planning
Commission; San Francisco's De Young Museum; the Sigmund Stern Grove Music Festival; Californians, Inc.; San Francisco Retail
Credit Association. He also received military and other honors from France.
