Title:

Mike L. Yager correspondence: to James P. Yager, 1863-1865

Creator/Contributor:

Yager, Mike L., creator, correspondent.

Creator/Contributor:

Yager, James P., correspondent.

Abstract:

An Irishman, originally from Kentucky, writes (6 letters, 16 p.) to his cousin James in West Walker River, California, about his circumstances and work looking for gold and other business opportunities in Nevada and California. Addressed mostly from Washoe City, Nevada and Summit City, California, Yager writes with good humor poking mild fun at himself, his circumstances, and his cousin James addressing one of his letters to him as, "Dear Corn Fed." Also includes two letters (6 p.) to James P. Yager's wife, Venitia. In one letter he playfully chides her to write him because she is mistaken in thinking he had not been replying to her, "Now Cousin Nish you must write. But I will take part of that back because if you tell a woman she must do anything you need not ever expect to receive one word after that."
