Isaiah W. Lees was born Dec. 25, 1830, Lancashire, England. Soon after his birth, the Lees family emigrated to Patterson,
New Jersey. Lees arrived in San Francisco, Calif. in 1848, and was appointed to the police force in Oct. 1853, serving continuously
until his retirement in 1900. Lees was considered one of the great police officers in his day. Lees died Dec. 21, 1902, survived
by a son, Frederick, and a daughter, Ella (Lees) Leigh.
