Abstract:

Locations pictured include: Alaska, Australia (New South Wales), New Zealand, Mexico, Canadian Rocky Mountains and plains, Philippines, San Francisco, and southern California. Alaskan views include totem poles, Innuits, scenery, and some Harriman Expedition photographs. Photographs from Mexico are touristic views of scenery and attractions including some of a bullfight. Views from New Zealand include city views of Auckland and other urban areas, as well as Maori portraits. Touristic views predominate among the photographs of the Philippines. Photographs from Canada show teepees, Native Americans, and bison. San Francisco views include scenes of the 1906 earthquake and fire as well as earlier street scenes. Most of the southern California views are of missions and Native Americans. One 1918 photograph of Charles Keeler's Claremont studio is also included.
