Photographic negative archive of commercial photographer Julian P. Graham. The archive is rich in images of sporting and social
life in the Monterey Peninsula vicinity, from the 1920s until 1942. Views include golf courses and golfers, tennis, polo,
country club and swimming pool scenes, visiting celebrities and local figures. Also included are some local scenes and landscapes.
a small selection of prints, including vintage prints or proofs found in the negative files as well as later prints made by
the library at the time patron orders were filled. Prints are filed in negative number order and provide a broad sampling
of the types of images found in the Graham archive: golf, tennis, fencing, social events, polo and equestrian events, landscapes
of the Monterey peninsula, and a few houses of the region. All negatives documenting Salvador Dali's surrealist party at the
Hotel Del Monte are represented by prints, and a number of views of the Moore Roundup (rodeo) are present, as well as several
aerial views of the region. No prints are available for the images reproduced in the book "Alister MacKenzie's Cypress Point
Club," by Geoff Shackelford.
