depredations, particularly in Southern California; crime and criminals, especially the Lugo brothers; arrival of Mormons in
California, etc. With these, letters from James T. Overstreet, Charles Swain Lovell, Erasmus Darwin Keys, Caleb Smith and
others, concerning the last illness and death of Schureman.
