James Ambrose Hannah (October 18, 1853-August 15, 1925) was born in New Brunswick, Canada. He graduated from Harvard Law School
in 1878 and began practicing law in Nevada. In 1888 he moved to Visalia, California, where he had a distinguished career as
a lawyer and rancher until his death. In 1899, he married Katherine Miller (1871-1954; sister of E.O. Miller) and they raised
two daughters.
Edward Oliver Miller (November 23, 1861-June 3, 1912) was born in Visalia, California, the son of Tulare County pioneers Artelius
Oscar Miller and Lucinda Ellis Miller. He began his career in the real estate business and studied law privately. After being
admitted to the bar, he began practicing law in Visalia and was recognized as one of the prominent attorneys of the city.
Following his retirement from active practice, Miller moved to San Francisco. He served as a California state senator, 1907-1909,
and was reportedly considering a run for governor at the time of his death. He was married to Cora Dineley (1861-1946) and
they had three children.
