Abstract:

Portraits, snapshots, etc. of California family, residents of Sacramento, Berkeley, the San Francisco Bay area, and Reno, Nevada. Chiefly the family of Sacramento attorney Fred Beckman Hart (born 1879) and wife Maud MacColl Hart, with pictures of Hart's father, General A.L. Hart of Colusa, Calif. and his mother, Mary Beckman Hart. Fred Beckman Hart's father and his maternal grandfather William Beckman were both gold rush era California pioneers. Includes student days in San Francisco and at U.C. Berkeley, early professional life in Sacramento, and family life in Reno. Albums contain some views, chiefly in the Santa Cruz mountains, Lake Tahoe region, and several from other travels.
