(1901-1929), assistant professor of German (Harvard University, 1891-1901), and alumni professor of Modern Languages (Wittenberg
College, Springfield, Ohio; 1886-1891) He was born in Soalfield, Germany and received his doctorate from Leipzig University
(1885).
