The San Francisco Hall of Justice building was built following the 1906 earthquake. Newton J. Tharp, who became the city architect
in October 1907, planned all of the new municipal structures after the earthquake. Approved by the Board of Police Commissioners
on March 5, 1909. Construction was completed in 1912. The building was demolished in 1968, after the new one on Byrant was
built.
