Portraits and snapshots of friends, associates and colleagues; many relating to librarianship and the American Library Association (ALA). Many snapshots of group outings and social gatherings in conjunction with ALA meetings between about 1890 and 1905 are present. Portraits include many prominent librarians of the late 19th century, C.A. Cutter, Andrew Carnegie, and a number of ALA presidents. Two photographs were taken outside the Carnegie birthplace in Dunfermline, Scotland. A small album contains snapshots from a post-conference visit to Lake Placid, New York, 1901. Another album contains images of a 1905 trip from the Rocky Mountains to Portland, Oregon for the 1905 meeting. This album includes snapshots of the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in Portland, a Columbia River excursion, and a subsequent steamer trip to Alaska. Some snapshots taken at the Haines home in Pasadena, Calif. are present. Three professional photographic views of Santa Barbara, Calif. in the 1890s are included (one by A.H. Rogers).
