Abstract:

1. One Summer in the High Sierras. Gives information on her parents; her father's work building dams for the Blue Lakes Water Company in Alpine Co., 1899-1901, utilizing Washoe Indians as laborers; life in Sutter Creek (51 leaves). 2. Early Years in San Francisco. Comments on life in San Francisco from 1902; the San Francisco earthquake and fire, 1906; city government, the graft prosecution, Abraham Ruef and Eugene E. Schmitz, 1900-1910; development of Golden Gate Park under W.H. Hall and John McLaren. Appendix by John J. Conlon re his experiences during the 1906 earthquake and fire (83 leaves). Copies of photographs inserted.
