Abstract:
Manuscript dictation accounts of a United States Navy veteran of his military career during the U.S. Civil War and the Mexican
War. The Civil War account (4 p.) includes the capture of Fort Henry, being taken prisoner and released, discharge date, and
his arrival at the East Gulf Squadron. Also includes some biographical information added to the account after his death in
1887. The Mexican War account (2 p.) has details of a naval action while aboard the Sloop of War, Preble, and the capture
of two ships, the General Merrimon and the Marcus D. Havana. Includes typescript transcription of both accounts.
