Frederick Warren Cozens was born in Portland, Oregon on November 19, 1890. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at
the University of California, Berkeley, and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. He divided his administative and teaching
career between U.C. Berkeley (1915-1919; 1942-1954) and the University of California, Los Angeles (1919-1942). Cozens died
in Berkeley on January 2, 1954.
