On the 16th of October 1912, General Félix Díaz raised arms in Veracruz against the fledging revolutionary government in Mexico
City. The government mobilized an army which recaptured the port and took Díaz prisoner on October 23. Some officials sought
to execute Díaz while others attempted protection. President Madero later commuted Díaz sentence to life in prison.
